"Librarians - the original search engine" attributed to Neil Gaiman

I have been a School Librarian since graduating from James Madison University in 1976.  I have worked at all grade levels, but prefer high school.  I started at Beddingfield in the fall of 2001 when Mrs. Smith retired and worked with Mrs. Meeks for two years.  My position was cut and I returned to Hearne Elementary for another two years.  When Mrs. Meeks retired, I came back to Beddingfield in the fall of 2003.  I plan to retire from Beddingfield High School.

I came to North Carolina to attend UNC Chapel Hill for graduate school and worked in Wake County.  I met Mr. Pike while living in Raleigh and we have two children, Genevieve and Ian.  I was fortunate to be able to stay home with them for ten years.

I have seen many changes over the years: typewriters to computers, card catalogs to online catalogs, reference collections to online databases and the internet.  Some things have not changed. Books and libraries are still the great equalizers and students want to read from a book for their recreational reading.
